According to Pfizer research, 70% of these herbal sex enhancers contain significant quantities of Sildenafil Citrate.     Even heavily researched prescriptive sex medications like Viagra, Cialis or Levitra are causing heart problems. No one should use any sex enhancer without physician’s advice. FDA received reports of serious adverse side effects like irreversible erection, severe headache, vision problems and spontaneous nose bleeding.   Most of these drugs slow blood flow to genital organs along with heart leading to stroke. When these drugs coupled with nitrates (blood pressure drugs), it will lead to catastrophic results. More than 5 million Americans are taking nitrates either for blood pressure or sexual dysfunction.        According to Nutrition Business Journal, market for natural sex enhancers has grown from $ 100 million to $ 400 million just within 5 years. Internet is providing ideal opportunity to market these herbal sex enhancers to its target group by advertising in porn sites. It is almost impossible to monitor these sites and ads. Cheap rates of these herbal sex stimulants are another advantage.   Unlike prescription medications, these herbal medications are released into markets without proper research. But sexual dysfunction drugs like Sildenafil underwent several clinical trials before allowing for prescription.   FDA was recently authorised to recall any dangerous medication whether it is prescriptive one or herbal drug. Government should give more powers to FDA to eradicate this growing menace.
